Geela Ruckman, APRN, CNP, provides care with the Springfield Clinic Infectious Diseases & Travel Medicine team. She sees patients at Springfield Clinic 1st - 900 Building, Springfield Memorial Hospital and HSHS St. John's Hospital.
She earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Maryville University in St. Louis and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College in St. Louis. She has more than 13 years of health care experience, including eight years in nursing, and most recently served as a registered nurse at HSHS St. John's Hospital.
"I always knew I wanted to work in health care," Geela says. "After going through EMT training and working as a CMA and pharmacy tech, I finally decided to go to nursing school and can't imagine myself as anything else."
"Within the health care field, I am always excited to learn new things without losing focus on individualizing patient care," says Geela. "My biggest passion in health care is providing personal patient education that helps them lead a more active role in understanding their conditions and treatment plans."
In her free time, Geela loves spending time with her son, husband and dog. Together, they enjoy hiking, camping, going to St. Louis Cardinals games, playing board games, trying new vegan and vegetarian recipes and visiting extended family. Her family is also in their second year of native gardening and enjoy watching monarch butterflies emerge in their yard.
