A new highly trained plastic surgeon and hand and upper extremity specialist is joining the Springfield Clinic Peoria team this month.

As a medical student at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Tyler Evans, MD, initially thought he might go into orthopedics as a specialty. But, thanks to his mentors and teachers in Peoria, he instead found a passion for plastic surgery and the way it could change patients’ lives. He did his residency with the Indiana University School of Medicine, then completed an additional hand and upper extremity fellowship at the Ohio State University College of Medicine.

“My favorite part of practicing medicine is having patients come in with an issue and helping them restore function and get back to work. You really get to see the direct results of your work and that’s very rewarding,” says Dr. Evans.

With his fellowship training, Dr. Evans is distinctly qualified to treat patients with hand and upper extremity trauma or to perform elective surgeries, such as for carpal tunnel syndrome. He is excited to be back in the Peoria area and joining the Springfield Clinic Peoria team.

Springfield Clinic Peoria is located at 1001 Main Street, Suite #300. The team is comprised of 12 surgeons and four advanced practitioners who provide procedures in the colon and rectal, general surgery, breast surgery, plastic surgery, surgical oncology, surgical weight loss and thoracic surgery specialties.
