Calvin Moy, MD, has known he wanted to be a doctor since high school, where he volunteered to do patient transport for a hospital. “Being able to interact with people, talk with people when they’re sick, see how the hospital works and how everyone plays a role in getting someone better—that just felt really good, and I wanted to be a part of that,” he says. Dr. Moy completed his medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Ill., and his family medicine residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Ill., and is board certified in family medicine.
As a general family medicine physician, Dr. Moy can provide care for patients of all ages. He has special interest and several years of experience in helping patients and families manage ADHD. “I know the struggles parents go through,” he says, “the fear of putting their kids on medicine but also wanting them to do well because it’s so competitive at school.”
Dr. Moy’s favorite part of practicing medicine is building relationships with his patients, especially over long periods of time. “To see people for school, then sports, then becoming parents, that is really amazing,” he says. As a part of those relationships, Dr. Moy wants patients to know that he will work with them to come up with treatment plans that work best for them instead of just telling them what to do. He also promises to be conscientious of patients’ time and will see them promptly so they can move on with their day.
