Randall Brenneman, MD, PhD, provides radiation oncology care with the Springfield Clinic's Cancer Center Department.
Dr. Brenneman earned both his doctorate degree in cancer biology and his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Florida. He completed his radiation oncology residency at Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis, Mo.
Prior to joining Springfield Clinic, Dr. Brenneman served as a physician in St. Louis, Mo., and Greeley, Colo., for three years.
His own patient experience as a young child drew Dr. Brenneman to health care.
"My pediatrician was a mentor and role model for me," Dr. Brenneman says. "He included me in the decision-making for my treatments. That's something that stuck with me, and I wanted to be that person for others."
Dr. Brenneman is passionate about helping patients through difficult diagnoses.
"I do a lot more listening than talking in initial consultations," he says. "I recognize that it's just as important as the diagnosis and the treatment recommendations to acknowledge and validate the patient experience."
In his free time, Dr. Brenneman enjoys watching hockey games and going fishing.
