Springfield Clinic will now offer radiation oncology services. University Radiologists, a group of five physicians and one advanced practice provider, has joined Springfield Clinic effective, July 1, 2020. They will continue to provide quality cancer care as part of Springfield Clinic from their current locations at Memorial Medical Center (701 North 1st Street, Springfield), HSHS St. John’s Hospital (800 East Carpenter Street, Springfield) and Passavant Radiation Oncology (567 North Westgate Street, Jacksonville).
C. Matthew Bradbury, MD, PhD, completed his medical and graduate degrees at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt. He then completed his radiation oncology residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo.
Dr. Bradbury started his career in radiation treatment research before pursuing a career as a physician. “I like interacting with people, helping them come up with treatment plans that make sense for them,” he says. “I also like sitting with families, being a good counselor and helping them all make sometimes tough decisions.”
Daniel Ferraro, MD, PhD, completed his medical and graduate degrees at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa, followed by his radiation oncology residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo.
A native of northern Minnesota, Dr. Ferraro had several family members who had cancer and sometimes had to travel to Mayo Clinic for treatment. “One of my goals is to be able to give the equivalent care that you would get at a place like Barnes here, in a more rural environment. I know how hard it is for people to get back and forth when care is far away from where you live.”
Kelli Fisher, APRN, CNP, completed her undergraduate degree at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill., and her graduate degree at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Mo. Knowing that she wanted to be a nurse at a very young age, Fisher has more than 30 years of nursing experience. “I’m a strong advocate for making sure there is communication among the providers to meet the patient’s treatment plan and goals,” she says.
Parashar Nanavati, MD, completed his medical degree at Gujarat University in Gujarat, India, followed by his radiation oncology residency at Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago. He joined the University Radiologists group in 1981 and has been practicing medicine for nearly forty years. A pilot and avid runner, Dr. Nanavati has valued the relationships he has had with his patients the most throughout his career.
