Springfield Clinic offers Baby Steps classes, our free class series for expecting or new parents. The Baby Steps class series offers a diverse range of educational courses and resources. These classes cover various aspects of newborn care, parenting, and overall family well-being and serve as a valuable resource for individuals seeking clarity and support during this transformative period of their lives. LABOR OF LOVE: PREPARING FOR CHILDBIRTH

Labor of Love is taught by a Springfield Clinic Center for Women’s Health physician or an advanced practitioner. Topics covered in this class include the signs of early labor and when to call your doctor or go to the hospital, the basics of pregnancy anatomy, stages and process of natural labor, pain management options and techniques to assist you through the stages of labor and more.

BREASTFEEDING BASICS

Breastfeeding Basics is offered twice a month. The topics covered in this class include the benefits of breastfeeding and how it works, positioning, getting started and what to expect in the first days and weeks at home.

WHAT'S NORMAL FOR NEWBORNS?

Join pediatrician Gretchen Gibbs, MD, FAAP, for a class on navigating the first weeks with your new baby. This session is ideal for getting acquainted with your baby's unique behaviors and needs. You'll develop realistic expectations and gain confidence in your parenting during this exciting yet often overwhelming time.

INFANT SAFETY

This class is lead by Dr. Claudin Gillison and Dr. Manasi Hulyalkar with Center for Women’s Health. This class is designed for expectant mothers which focuses on baby-proofing, preparing for the arrival of your baby and guidance on the dos and don’ts for new parents.

HeartSaver CPR

Springfield Clinic Pediatrics offers HeartSaver CPR classes for parents and young babysitters. You will receive your CPR certification covering adult, child and infant CPR, choking and AED. The class fee is $20 which must be paid at the time of the class by cash or check.
