Brittany Sweet, MDhas joined Springfield Clinic’s Dermatology Department as of July 24, 2023. She sees patients at Springfield Clinic Dermatology-Monroe.

Dr. Sweet earned her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed her dermatology residency at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine earlier this year.

"Originally, I went to medical school with the intention of going into family medicine, like my father," says Dr. Sweet. "But after a dermatology rotation, I fell in love with the uniqueness of the specialty while getting to maintain long-term continuity of care with my patients."

In her practice, Dr. Sweet looks to provide her patients with stability and reassurance throughout their care experience.

"I'm very invested in my patients," says Dr. Sweet. "If someone comes into my office and wants to get better I immediately become just as invested in their health as they are. I want them to know that I am their advocate and their support."

In her free time, Dr. Sweet enjoys spending time with her two boys, gardening, hiking and kayaking.

"Hospitalization can be such a key time in a patient's life," says Dr. Thomas. "As their health and life are changing, it is a privilege to be able to care for them and quickly get them healthier and back home to their families."

Dr. Thomas is a life-long resident of central Illinois, and she is excited to provide care in the community she grew up in.

"Hospital medicine is a unique pace in health care," says Dr. Thomas. "Some patients are receiving health care for the first time while others are changing the trajectory of their care or encountering a new diagnosis. My job is to assure them and provide the highest quality care that I can."

In her free time, Dr. Thomas enjoys being outside with her family. They go for bike rides on the Sangamon Valley Trail and spend time in their yard with their dog.
