Trupesh Chanpura, MD, MHA, CPE, FCCP, is a Critical Care physician with Springfield Clinic and cares for critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Springfield Memorial and St. John’s Hospitals. Dr. Chanpura joined the Springfield Clinic team in 2013.

Dr. Chanpura serves as Chair of the Critical Care Department at Springfield Clinic and has held multiple leadership roles across regional healthcare institutions, including former Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Memorial Medical Center and Medical Director at Gracepoint–Short Term Rehabilitation at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He is a Certified Physician Executive and is formally trained in Lean Six Sigma for quality improvement, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, patient safety and outcomes-based care. His leadership experience also includes service on the ABIM Internal Medicine Board Question Writing Committee and ongoing contributions to departmental governance, quality initiatives and physician development.
Dr. Chanpura is proud to teach the next generation of doctors as a Clinical Assistant Professor at SIU School of Medicine in the Department of Surgery–Division of Emergency Medicine and serves as course director and consultant for the Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS) program. He has played a key role in resident education as ICU Rotation Site Director for Emergency Medicine and ENT residency programs at SIU School of Medicine.
Dr. Chanpura’s scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications and national presentations on ICU quality improvement, post-ICU care syndrome and evidence-based critical care practices. Dr. Chanpura has received multiple honors for teaching excellence.
When Dr. Chanpura is not at work, he loves spending time with his family of five, traveling, listening to music and trying different cuisine.
