Terri received her bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis and her Master of Physical Therapy degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. She specializes in multiple areas of physical therapy including general medical, transplant, orthopedic and neurological acute care, sub-acute rehabilitation and outpatient physical therapy. Her current practice is primarily treatment of orthopedic issues with an emphasis on dysfunctions of the spine, pelvic girdle, hips and pelvic floor. This includes back pain of multiple etiologies, pelvic pain such as dyspareunia, vaginismus, vulvodynia, coccydynia and penile and scrotal pain, urinary and fecal incontinence and evacuation disorders of the bowel and bladder. She also has a special interest in treating musculoskeletal issues specific to women during pregnancy and postpartum.
She performs a comprehensive evaluation of her patients including an extensive discussion of the patient's subjective complaints and a holistic approach for objective findings as any system in the body could impair movement and efficient function. Her philosophy is that health care practitioners must look at the whole body in order to address any problem.
She is a certified functional manual therapist through the Institute of Physical Art and uses hands-on treatment techniques and specific exercises to address impairment of mechanical capacity of her patient's joints and soft tissues and impairment of neuromuscular function. She educates her patient's extensively to help them improve body awareness and control of movement patterns and postures all working toward improving function and decreasing pain. She is also board certified in biofeedback for pelvic muscle dysfunction through the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance.
She uses this technology as an additional tool to assess patient pelvic floor muscle function and to help the patient increase awareness and control of the pelvic floor musculature. Terri is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Illinois Physical Therapy Association. Her goal is to help her patients achieve their highest potential of efficient function and quality of life.
