Melinda Osborn, LCPC, provides care with the Springfield Clinic Counseling team and sees patients at Springfield Clinic Jacksonville.
Melinda earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health from Bradley University in Peoria and her Bachelor of Science in social work from Illinois State University in Normal.
Melinda's interest in counseling sparked originally from her passion for reading. "I was intrigued by counselor characters in many of the books I read, which eventually influenced my decision to study and pursue a career in medical social work," she says.
Melinda is passionate about continuing to learn about and implement evidence-based approaches in therapy. "Our lived experiences are not just stored in our thoughts, but are deeply held in our bodies and nervous systems," she says. "By implementing approaches like eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and somatic interventions, I help patients build the gap between mind and body, allowing them to process distress, anxiety and negative beliefs."
In her free time, Melinda enjoys traveling to national parks and historic sites, camping, hiking, supporting local theater and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, reading nonfiction and being a lifelong learner. She also participates in the local boy scout troop in Springfield, her children's school's booster club and Project Rachel through the Diocese of Springfield.
