Leighanne Bonnett, APRN, CNP, provides care with the Springfield Clinic Critical Care team and sees patients at both Springfield Memorial Hospital and HSHS St. John’s Hospital.

Leighanne earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo., and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Benedictine University in Springfield, Ill. She also received an Associates Degree in Nursing from Richland Community College in Decatur, Ill. Prior to joining Springfield Clinic, Leighanne served as a nurse for over 12 years in the central Illinois area.

Leighanne decided to pursue a career in health care after the loss of a loved one. “This experience motivated me to take a CNA course, which I really enjoyed,” says Leighanne. “However, I knew that I wanted to do more, so I continued my education step by step until I completed my APRN.”

Making an effort to connect with every patient, Leighanne enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. “Developing meaningful connections with patients and their families during their stay is fulfilling,” she says. “Witnessing patients' improvement and eventual discharge from the ICU is the ultimate reward.”

Leighanne enjoys spending her free time reading, spending time with her family and spoiling her pets.
