Lauren Ray, PA-C, provides care with the Orthopedics team. She currently sees patients at Springfield Clinic 1st - 800 Building and Carlinville Area Hospital. She has more than ten years of experience in health care.
“I think I always had an interest in medicine,” says Lauren. “I have many family members who work in physical therapy and thought maybe that is what I would want to do. But physician assistant school was becoming more popular, and I decided that was my preferred path.”
Growing up in the area, Lauren had the opportunity to complete part of her physician assistant schooling in Springfield, and she knew this is where she always wanted to practice. She also appreciates the teamwork that Springfield Clinic provides even across different departments when that is what her patients need.
Lauren earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
“We have a great team at Springfield Clinic,” Lauren says. “Our patients definitely benefit because of each of us on the team brings a unique perspective that improves the patient care experience.”
Lauren serves on the Macoupin County Health Center Board and the Macoupin County Board of Health and helped shepherd both organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also provides sports medicine support to her alma mater, Carlinville High School.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family. As a family, they love to do anything outdoors, including biking, boating, camping and golfing.
