Christopher Abraham, MD, provides care with the Springfield Clinic's Cancer Center and sees patients at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Abraham earned his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He also has a Master of Science degree in applied clinical informatics from Vanderbilt School of Medicine in Nashville. He completed his radiation oncology residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Prior to joining Springfield Clinic, he provided radiation oncology care in St. Louis since 2016.
Dr. Abraham's interest in radiation oncology came from his own family's experience with cancer. "The patient care aspect of radiation oncology is very close to my heart," he says. "Having a number of different family members diagnosed with cancer and watching their cancer journey, I felt that was something I could participate in and help guide other cancer patients through that journey."
In his practice, Dr. Abraham predominantly sees patients with primary and secondary brain tumors and lung cancer as well as patients seeking to receive radiation for pain reduction and to treat other cancer-related symptoms.
"It's often a very scary time in a patient's life when they meet with a radiation oncologist," he says. "But ultimately, I think what patients will find is that radiation is safe, effective and ultimately pretty well tolerated."
In his free time, Dr. Abraham enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters and working on technology, including building his own home server and modeling and printing on his 3D printer.
