Chetan Gowda, MD, is with Springfield Clinic’s Trauma & Acute Care Surgery team, seeing patients at HSHS St. John’s Hospital and HSHS St. John’s Pavilion. Dr. Gowda joined Springfield Clinic in 2019.

Dr. Gowda earned his medical degree at Sri Siddhartha Medical College in Tumkur, India. He completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, Fla.

Prior to joining Springfield Clinic, Dr. Gowda served as a physician in Springfield, Ill., for three years.

“Growing up, I always had an interest in science,” says Dr. Gowda. “Undergoing a surgical procedure myself while in high school drew me toward the medical field. During my training in surgery, I fell in love with trauma and critical care and never looked back.”

Dr. Gowda is passionate about finding out the root of a problem and fixing the issue in a timely manner for his patients.

“I’ve wanted to experience four seasons for a long time, which is what brought me to central Illinois,” Dr. Gowda says. “Springfield is where I found a harmonious balance between my work and personal life.”

In his free time, Dr. Gowda enjoys hiking, traveling with family and spending quality time with his children.
