We are pleased to announce that, effective March 16, Rebecca Birenbaum, JD, MBA, has joined Springfield Clinic as our new Chief Executive Officer.

Rebecca brings a wealth of experience to our organization, coming from Vancouver Clinic in Vancouver, Wash., where she served as Chief Operating Officer for the past seven years. With more than 25 years of leadership in health care operations and human resources management, Rebecca has an impressive record of strategic planning, physician and employee engagement, fiduciary discipline and collaborative team building. She holds a Juris Doctorate from Lewis & Clark Law School, a Master of Business Administration from American University and a Bachelor of Arts from Earlham College.

Rebecca shared, “I’m excited to begin this journey and work alongside each of you to advance an organization focused on quality care, independence and compassion for our employees and patients in the communities we serve. Springfield Clinic has a solid foundation that will allow us to meet the challenges ahead while continuing to provide outstanding care, an exceptional patient experience and value.”

Rebecca’s career has been deeply rooted in the non-profit and health care sectors, reflecting her commitment to support community well-being. Her leadership philosophy centers on servant leadership, building strong relationships and leading with respect for others. As she emphasizes, “Everyone should have a voice and be heard.”

Rebecca discovered her passion for service while volunteering with her father, a physician who delivered care around the world. These experiences inspired her to believe in the power of compassionate leadership and its positive impact on communities.

Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys cooking and traveling with her husband, Frank. They are proud parents of a son graduating from college in May. They also enjoy hiking and outdoor adventures with their 10-year-old boxer, Karl. The Birenbaum family is excited to settle into the greater Springfield area.
